Merry Christmas everyone! I bet a few of you reading this has had the flu this last week? Patrick and I both had it as well and at least ten other people I know have had it too! Nothing like the Christmas Flu right?
Patrick got an extra special present this Christmas besides the flu. On Christmas Eve morning (about 5:03 a.m. to be exact) Patrick woke up with a horrible pain in is stomach. He got in the tub hoping that it would help, but no luck. I woke up about an hour later and he was still in there moaning and groaning in pain! Patrick thought he was going to die,
literally he thought he was about to meet the big man upstairs, but I wasn't having that! I'm pretty sure we made it to the hospital in 5 minutes, which is usually about a 15 minute drive. To make a long story short... we got him to the hospital, they diagnosed him with kidney stones, and then sent us on our way ( all within 3 hours or so).
There was a really great moment that we can laugh about now though, Patrick is going to kill be for blogging about this by the way, but it is too funny not to document! You have to know one thing quick, Patrick has always feared kidney stones. He has always said he never wants to get them for fear he will have to pee out a huge object. Anyway we were in the emergency room and the nurse asked Patrick where his pain was. He discribes to her that his pain was in his right side and kind of into his back. She said, "sounds like you've got kidney stones."
He flinched a little bit and said, "oh, and I just got this pain in my goods."
She started laughing and said, "Your goods? I've never heard anyone call it that before!" and we were all laughing by this time. But wait it gets better! The Dr. came in asked Patrick the same thing, where is your pain? and Patrick said, "in my right side and kind of in my back."
Then the Dr. said, "Yup sounds like kidney stones." Patrick winced again and said, "OH and I just felt some pain in the tip of my penis!"
We both looked at the Dr. and he had this unsure look on his face. Kind of a face you give someone when you think they are crazy stupid.
We later came to the conclusion that Patrick was having some sort of phantom pain. Like not really actual true pain, but the kind your mind makes up! Every time they said he had kidney stones Patrick associated that with the pain he thought was soon to come to his wiener! I can barely even write about this because I am laughing so hard! Ridiculous I know, but still a great Patrick moment!
Patrick is doing fine so no worries about him and Avery's first Christmas went without another hitch. I'll have to post pictures later because this blog is already crazy long.
