Puerto Vallarta...we will miss you!

We made it back! No mugging, kidnapping, stabbing, shooting, or any of the other horrible things that you hear about in the news happened while we were in Mexico! Although there was adventure, just not anything too dangerous. I could write an entire page on the awesome stuff we saw and did, but instead I will spare you the read and just list our most favorite things about being there and share a few pictures. OH and I have to share the Arnold Special story! That is a memory we will never forget!

Things I will miss about being on vacation in Puerto Vallarta
  • taking daily naps on the beach while listening to the sound of the waves
  • being waited on hand and foot, great food, all you can eat
  • HOT weather
  • not having to work
  • Falling asleep every night to the sound of the ocean
  • Playing in the ocean
watching the most beautiful sun set everynight
Things I will NOT miss
  • mosquito bites!
  • third degree sunburn on my back and shoulders
  • being away from my little baby
This was the view from our room. It had the coolest sliding door that open almost all the way up so you could feel the breeze and hear the ocean
Lousy picture, but this is our hotel from the beach
Watching the sun set every night was priceless

Another beach picture

This is an old church that was so neat inside.
My pictures do it no justice what so ever. It was Huge!
There was a few guys carving sand people and asking for $$. Can you believe this is how these men make their living? Making sand castles all day and getting paid by tourist?
In the old part of town on the boardwalk there are tons of weird statues. Here is a good example. Also this part of the town has cobble stone streets. I thought that was pretty cool
Ha-Ha this city bus had "spinners" on the back. Don't worry, the rest of the bus looked like it would quit running on the next block, but I guess they wanted to add some class?
Patrick playing in the ocean
Yep, he's in this picture too! You just can't see him :)
Patrick's favorite part of the trip had to be visiting the set of the movie "The Predator". Yup, they filmed a lot of the movie in the jungle of P.V. and you better believe that since this movie is one of Patrick's all time fav's that we went to visit the set.
There is a restaurant and a zip line tour so it was worth making the trip into the jungle
The sign on the left of us says "watch out for Jaguars, they are dangerous and will eat you!" just kidding, I have now idea what it said, I failed Spanish class in high school :)
Neither of us had ever been on a zip line and how often do you get to take one where Predator was filmed?
After the zip line we were kind of hungry so we decided to eat at the resturant there. We decieded to order the "Arnold Special" which was described on the menu to be a "dinner for 2" with carne esada, ribs, chicken, and some other stuff. The only thing is the menu was in pesos and although the conversion rate is really easy to understand when I saw the $620 price I thought to myself, there is no way a dinner for two is $62.00 it must be $6.20. NOPE! We got the meal and it came out on a baking sheet! see...
I was so sick about spending 60 bucks on LUNCH that I lost my appetite. I think I only could eat like one tortilla, no joke. We laughed about getting bamboozaled and we now have a new saying when you get screwed over we say you are getting the Arnold Special!
Patrick tried to eat as much of it as he could :)

We took a "jungle trek" up a dry river bed. Well it was semi dry, the end had a tiny waterfall.
No to my favorite part of the trip! We went to the zoo! We took the bus (which is an adventure in itself) and walked through a small town called Mismalolla (where I got eaten by mosquitoes!)
This was unlike any zoo you will ever go to in the U.S.! All of the animals are so close you could touch them. Tigers, Lions, Jaguars, and the others who probably wouldn't hurt you because they don't eat meat for dinner, but they could bit you and give you AIDS I'm sure!
You can buy food to feed all of the animals with...and draw them closer to you, if that were possible
Ha-Ha, Patrick feeding a Zebra some corn
Here is the sad thing about this zoo, some of the animals were in really bad shape. It made me so sad to see them in their concrete cells, or out in the heat. This is a wolf and if you look at the picture close you can see the patches of hair missing :(
The monkey was trying to grab my camera :)
My favorite part of the zoo was petting the baby tiger!

I actually got a lot of video from the zoo. one of a Jaguar that wanted to rip my face off because I startled it, that is a good one it's just long. Here is a short video I took when we first got there.

The pictures you took are so pretty! I am worried about going on my first vacation without Hunter....I'll probably be a nervous wreck. I like the "Arnold Special" - 62 bucks, ouch. At least it was a lot of food, I mean if it came out on a teeny plate it wouldn't have been as cool. Thats a cool zoo, too - it looks like that giraffe could have eaten your head off if it had wanted to.
